Never one to invite publicity, Magnus Olsson has been busy working behind the scenes instead, doubling the Swedish fashion giant’s portfolio in the UK during his six-year tenure. Sales have followed suit, achieving double-digit growth while competitors languish. But it is for H&M’s clever, and hugely commercial, collaborations that he has been awarded a top 10 position this year. Snaring the likes of Maison Martin Margiela and Anna Dello Russo keeps the fashionistas happy, while consumer-friendly celebrity tie-ups with the likes of Lana Del Rey have ensured collections sell out in minutes. That H&M has innovated with the people and brand houses it selects for its alliances has ensured it continues to feel fresh. UK consumers are lapping it up.
