Drapers’ autumn 12 Hit or Miss series saw Next brush aside the competition to claim top spot across all three categories - womenswear, menswear and footwear - a feat not previously achieved in Drapers’ recent past, at least. That achievement is down to one man: Christos Angelides. With Kate Bostock no longer at the helm of Marks & Spencer, and the newly appointed general merchandise team yet to make an impact, Angelides now has, arguably, the biggest product job in fashion. But with his low public profile, Angelides is a quiet, powerful driving force of the high street giant, and a loyal one at that, having been with his beloved Next for some 26 years.
