The Olympic & Paralympic Games

Much was made in the run-up to the Olympic Games in London this year of the impact it would have on the economy and on fashion sales. Well, for many, the latter didn’t really pan out, with the exception of a select few based in Westfield Stratford. Yes, tourists flocked to the city and brands like Stella McCartney, Adidas, Puma and Sports Direct did reap the rewards, but for others - notably those in the West End - footfall was hit. But in the end, that wasn’t really the point. The unprecedented pride among the Great British public reached unimaginably dizzy heights, leaving us with a warm, feelgood factor - and the crucial consumer confidence that businesses have been craving.
