Top 100: 38. Julian Dunkerton

Chief executive, SuperGroup

SuperGroup might have borne the brunt of negative press this year, but the young fashion business defied its critics by delivering a 16.3% rise in sales in the first half as like-for-like retail sales rose 3.9%. Despite the tough climate, Julian Dunkerton and his team have not rested on their laurels and have set about building brand extensions including growing the womenswear offering beyond its casualwear roots and moving into formal menswear. It’s not been all sunny skies for Dunkerton though, as almost one in five shareholders opposed his re-election as chief executive at September’s AGM.

Did you know? Dunkerton has a stake in The Wheatsheaf Inn in Northleach, Gloucestershire, where he can be found enjoying his family’s tipple, Dunkertons cider.
