Top 100: 39. Sarah Burton

Creative director, Alexander McQueen

After designing what is arguably the dress of the decade for a certain future queen of England last year, it was difficult for Sarah Burton to maintain her top 10 position this year. But that’s not to say 2012 has been quiet for Alexander McQueen’s shy creative director. Burton has continued to wow us with her stunningly beautiful collections, honouring the legend of her former mentor while introducing her own take on the house’s signatures. Bringing diffusion line McQ back onto the London Fashion Week schedule, while opening a spectacular new McQ and a McQueen menswear London flagship store are her other top achievements this year.

This year’s high… Burton’s royal connections saw her top the fashion names in this year’s Honours List, receiving an OBE from the Queen for services to fashion.
