Top 100: 49. Paul Sweetenham

Chief executive, Republic

After leaving his high-profile role at TK Maxx at the end of last year, Paul Sweetenham was unveiled as the new head of Republic at the start of 2012, where he announced his intention to shake up the brand mix and team to reinvigorate the young fashion retailer. His move down the list this year is a consequence of being an as-yet-unknown quantity as far as results go, with a low-profile first 12 months in the job, which he has evidently spent getting to grips with the internal workings of the business. Who knows what the next year will bring, though?
