2012 has been good to François-Henri Pinault. Despite a slowdown in the Chinese economy, which has been affecting growth for many UK luxury brands, PPR’s 6.6% rise in like-for-likes in the third quarter was pretty much in line with the 7% growth in the same quarter last year. With Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney part of PPR’s portfolio, Pinault has benefited from the feelgood factor in the UK this year. PPR’s luxury division, which includes Gucci, Saint Laurent Paris and Bottega Veneta, posted an 11.9% leap in like-for-like sales in the third quarter.
