Top 100: 73. Kate Bostock

Incoming executive director of product and trading, Asos

Fifty-six places is a long way to fall for someone with Kate Bostock’s experience, but the drop reflects a tricky 2012 rather than a criticism of her expertise. Her move from Marks & Spencer to Asos had been speculated for over a year, raising questions over Bostock’s commitment to her former employer. Plus, M&S’s general merchandise, which Bostock presided over, hasn’t had a great year. Still, 2013 should bring new opportunities, especially as the Asos role moves Bostock out of her mid-market comfort zone.

What they say about her… Bostock is understood to have taken a pay cut to join Asos.
