Top 100: 75. Peter Williams

Founder, Jack Wills

Industry whispers continue to speculate that Peter Williams, founder of preppy young fashion chain Jack Wills, is gearing up for the sale of a stake or a float of the business, and the attractiveness of the business is clear to see. Sales jumped 32% last year, generating revenues of £122m, while EBITDA slipped from £15.9m to £11.8m following store opening costs and the creation of 1,238 jobs. Williams brought in Vodafone marketing boss Wendy Becker in the newly created role of chief operating officer, while also poaching Outfit’s head of retail Ian Jones. But October saw Williams axe sister fascia Aubin & Wills, leaving him to focus solely on Jack Wills’ expansion.
