Top 100: 76. Jason Tarry

Chief executive, clothing, Tesco

The third person to lead Tesco’s F&F clothing business within 18 months, Jason Tarry brought a wealth of experience gained through a 22-year career at the retailer (most recently heading up the successful F&F franchise business in eastern and central Europe) when he took up the role of chief executive of clothing for the whole business in July. With a profit warning just after Christmas and a 3.9% drop in domestic sales across general merchandise, clothing and electrics for the year ended February 25, Tesco will no doubt be hoping Tarry can replicate his success in Europe, where clothing sales rose 12% in that period.

If F&F’s rather impressive spring 13 press day is anything to go by, it might just be proved right.
