What he’s learnt: “Look after the customer and the customer will always look after you.”
Hours standing outside gyms in the cold in his previous life as a professional cricketer gave Philip Beahon the perfect grounding to launch activewear brand Castore. He started the business with brother, Tom, also a former athlete, after the duo struggled to find high-quality performance sportswear.
“I always knew I wanted to start a business, so I made the leap,” says Beahon. “Starting Castore with my brother is easily the most dauting but satisfying moment of my career so far.”
Their brand focuses on creating technically advanced product for a customer who values high performance. Although the Beahon brothers founded Castore in 2016, and it is still a young business, it has already won some significant support. Last September, it raised £1.2m from a group of private investors, which included New Look founder and non-executive board member Tom Singh.
“Phil is a very talented young entrepreneur, who has demonstrated exceptional levels of determination, drive and creativity to bring his vision for Castore to life,” Singh tells Drapers. “I have no doubt that his future is extremely bright”.
