A long-time sustainability pioneer, Stella McCartney continued her efforts in building a more environmentally conscious business this year.
Her eponymous label was a founding member of the 2019 Fashion Pact – an initiative to champion sustainable fashion presented at the G7 summit in August – along with 31 other brands and retailers. She partnered with Google to develop a new data analytics tool to increase visibility of companies’ supply chains, and supported Farfetch’s sustainability-focused accelerator programme.
McCartney also became a special adviser to LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault and the executive committee members on sustainability, after the luxury brand house snapped up a minority stake in her brand in July.
If there is an ongoing industry sustainability project, McCartney is likely to be part of it.
