Step up and support UK fashion's next generation

It’s unquestionable. The British fashion sector has got real talent and while the UK scrabbles to climb out of the recession it is imperative we do not neglect the incredible young people this industry attracts.

Today’s assistant buyers, merchandisers and design graduates are tomorrow’s chief executives. Our young people represent the future health of this sector and their collective talent should be nurtured and celebrated regardless of market conditions.

Drapers examines the Next Generation of UK fashion talent, selecting 30 of the most gifted under 30s currently working in the sector and profiling where our future fashion leaders may come from.

We also look back at some of the talented individuals Drapers profiled in 200X, when they themselves were under 30, and explore some of their exceptional achievements.

But the Drapers Next Generation supplement is not a one-hit wonder. We intend to celebrate up-and-coming talent in our sector week in week out over the coming months.

To ensure that young talent is not forgotten during the recession we need your help. Drapers has launched a Fashion the Future campaign, in which we would like fashion businesses, be those retailers, brands or suppliers, to pledge something to support the industry. This could be additional graduate schemes, a structured mentoring programme, work placements, opportunities to shadow directors and so on. Basically, anything that enhances the experience of fashion’s Next Generation of talent.

Our campaign will culminate in a free-to-attend special Next Generation Academy event to be held in March.
