Family-owned Barbour celebrated its 125th anniversary this year, and Buck announced several new lines as a suitable acknowledgement. The brand launched its limited edition “Icons Re-Engineered” collection in autumn 19, offering a contemporary take on 15 key men’s and women’s archive jackets. The brand also teamed up with TV presenter-turned-fashion designer Alexa Chung’s label. Barbour by Alexachung hit the shelves in June and comprised 11 pieces.
Buck strengthened his leadership team with the appointment of Nicola Brown as its new head of womenswear. She joined the company from Hobbs this month.
Under the steady hand of Buck, who has held the managing director role for 16 years, Barbour’s turnover jumped 9.2% year on year to £185.3m in the year to 30 April 2018, its most recent results. Gross profit was up 14.5% to £109.5m.
