Peter Lucas, Chairman of BMB Group, Speciality Retail Group, Arafa Holding Retail Division and British Clothing Industry

Peter Lucas has added a number of brands to BMB Group’s bulging portfolio via a series of acquisitions this year.

BMB bought supplier John Langford out of administration in March, adding the Pierre Cardin, Frederick Theak, Picador, Sangan and Haines & Bonner brands to its line-up.

Five months later, it snapped up shirt brand 1…Like No Other when shirt manufacturer Glenaden went into administration. BMB was also granted the licence to make suits for Ben Sherman.

In March, Lucas brokered a deal for Egyptian supplier and BMB stakeholder Arafa Holding to buy menswear business Speciality Retail Group, which owns Suits You, from private equity owner Gresham. The deal was his first as chairman of Arafa Holding’s retail business in Europe.

On his appointment as chairman of the British Clothing Industry Association, Lucas set out to recruit members from a wider cross-section of the fashion community.
