Alexander Wang to joing Balenciaga

Alexander Wang is to become the new creative director at French fashion house Balenciaga.

Wang will replace Nicolas Ghesquière who will leave the luxury label today (November 30) after 15 years. According to reports, an announcement from the brand about Wang’s appointment is expected next week.

Wang designs for his eponymous label after his first ready-to-wear collection launched in 2007. This launch was followed by Wang’s diffusion line T by Alexander Wang in 2009.

Speculation as to who would take on Ghesquière’s role has been rife. Earlier this month rumours were rife that Scottish designer Christopher Kane was to become Balenciaga’s new creative director, a rumour which Kane has denied.
