BASLER

Spring 10

The collection Despite the launch of Basler’s younger, directional MYBC sub-brand for spring 10, there are still plenty of on-trend pieces on offer in Basler’s mainline (which is in the process of being rebranded as Basler Black). Nautical stands out as the most innovative of the stories, with red, white and blue blazers in contrasting polka dot prints, while floral prints came in blurry versions. As in many other brands’ collections, apple and turquoise are key colours, while outerwear is one of Basler’s biggest growth categories for the season, with shiny parkas looking particularly impressive.

Number of pieces Three collections of 120 pieces each split into fortnightly drops

Brand comment

Christian Lawaczeck UK managing director

Business is mixed for us for spring 10 – while some of our clients are growing their businesses, we have an equal number contracting theirs, so it’s not going to be a season of fantastic growth for anyone. We are analysing our business to try to remedy any shortcomings we may have and have taken on some new accounts for spring, but not as many as we’d hoped for.
