Bold colours, prints and metallics – Superga spring 17 is a collection you don’t want to miss.
The Italian sneaker brand Superga has been setting trends since it was established by Walter Martiny in Turin more than 100 years ago. It was there that its factory began producing shoes with the vulcanised rubber soles for which it is famous and where the timeless classic, the Superga 2750 was born.
Known as ‘the people’s shoe of Italy’, the 2750 has transcended borders and become a favourite the world over for its on-trend styles, being snapped on celebrities and fashion icons alike. The brand is known for its celebrity associations, and its brand ambassadors have typically been of the moment, “the next big thing”. The brand’s past faces include model and TV presenter Alexa Chung, popstar Rita Ora, models Suki Waterhouse and Binx Walton. Most recently, model and actress Abbey Lee, came aboard.
Of course, behind its clever PR and marketing campaigns sits a brilliant must-have product, and this season the brand is bringing retailers a collection full of exciting new styles and colours.
Superga has reinvented its classic 2750 low-top silhouette for spring 17, replacing its traditional cream or white sole with on-trend bold shades of purple and red to match the upper for a more solid colour impact in a style it called the “total”. This represents a continuation from spring 16, where the Italian footwear firm unveiled the new-look shoe, which also sees the Superga logo blended with the upper, in seasonal shades of mint, paradise pink, black, white, ecru and dark bordeaux. The colours are also reflected in the traditional white/cream sole favourites.
Metallic styles feature prominently in the spring collection, in the form of the 2750 Cotmetu silver and rose gold styles, which are perfect for the summer months. In fact, the range has been so popular that Superga has unveiled new styles, including espadrille flatforms and macramé options with metallic flecks.
Of course, the season wouldn’t be complete without Superga’s must-have fashion collection, where the brand plays around with its timeless silhouettes and pushes the boundaries to create on-trend and fashion forward sneaker styles. This season sees the iconic footwear brand showcase bright and colourful statement styles along with interesting prints. With the luxe aesthetic the brand’s fans have come to expect, stripes and texture are a key focus, and interesting details include metallic toe-caps in a snake print for both the 2750s and flatforms have been introduced for a grown-up edge.
This season, Superga will also continue its highly anticipated collaborations. The Liberty Art Fabrics range has been a hit these last two years, so for spring 17 the brand will have its own Liberty range where its 2754 mid-tops will be introduced in the eye-catching prints for the first time. As if that weren’t enough, more exciting collaborations are soon to be announced.
