Casual Fashion Autumn 16: The Drapers Edit

1990s Remix: get an exclusive first look at the autumn 16 season in Drapers men’s and women’s photoshoot.

The autumn 16 season is about looking back while moving forward, as casual brands and young fashion labels riff on the spirit of 1990s grunge in new ways for guys and girls. The decade’s hero items make a comeback in a moody palette: oversized army green parkas and simple black slip dresses layered over long-sleeved T-shirts, grungy plaid shirts with oversized knitwear and punky distressed denim. As with the original 1990s look, retro tracksuits and classic tailored coats are added for a mix-and-match style: smart and casual; new and old; skate, street and sporty. The aesthetic is refreshed for autumn with new fits and silhouettes – slimmed down, neatly tailored or oversized for a fresh take – while interesting textures and functional fabrics lend a modern feel.
