Alexander McQueen

Autumn 10

The final collection from Lee Alexander McQueen, which he was working on at the time of his death, focused on rich fabrics and a Byzantine-cum-medieval influence on after-dark looks that may have been out of step with autumn 10’s daywear trend but which highlighted McQueen’s creative talent. Hand-loomed jacquards, icon prints and lashings of gold (including a jacket made from gold feathers) made many pieces resemble imperial robes. The silhouette followed the contours of the body then flared either at the waist or hip with details including fluted pleats at hip level.
