Alexander Wang

Spring 11

The look Alexander Wang showed a surprisingly light and airy collection characterised by layering and relaxed silhouettes.

Key pieces Wide-leg trousers, soft shoulder jackets and slouchy knitted trousers and cardigans led the way. Dresses were floaty and voluminous while skirts were worn tight and to the knee. Metallic rain protector-style jackets maintained the sporty signature.

Colours The palette was almost exclusively white apart from dustings of peppermint and putty, in sharp contrast to the designer’s dark autumn 10 show. Copper paint sporadically decorated trousers and skirts.

Commercial appeal Layering has been gaining momentum since spring 10, and Alexander Wang continued to run with this for spring 11 in the form of a soft shouldered, layered look which is easy to wear across different markets. Versatile, long-line loose-fitting tops will be a hit along with the pure palette.
