Spring 11

The look Rock chicks strutted down the catwalk as Christophe Decarnin resurrected the signature Balmain biker and gave the young fashion denim market food for thought.

Key pieces A red, long-sleeved biker jacket with all-over silver studding stood out. Tops were slashed and refastened with safety pins. Hot pants and capri-length trousers were key.

Commercial appeal While it lacked newness, this collection played straight into the hands of the young fashion market. Brands such as Religion will be jumping for joy as the collection mirrored its rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic. On the denim front, brands should tap into metallic and capri-length jeans.

Footwear and accessories Thin, matt-black belts were key as were slashed, micro-fishnet tights. Shoes were simple black, low-cut courts or ankle boots.
