Ledina Zhang,Northumbria University
In contrast to many of the graduates’ who used reserved tonal nudes, Ledina Zhang adorned her oversized knitted all-in-ones with technicolour slabs of hot pink, popping violet, pillarbox red and egg-yolk yellow.
Her wry sense of humour oozed out of every outfit, as models’ hands were strung together with giant mustard scarves, heads were obscured by multicoloured snoods and snakes of stripy knits dangled from armpits.
Stripes varied in width from thick to thin, and came in navy and dove grey pairings and five-colour combinations, but Zhang kept the collection tied together through the use of her colour blocking panels.
Design duo and GFW judges Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro said: “Ledina’s design concept is ambitious and intensive; her accessories are brilliant. Each piece is very intricate and impeccably put together, making for a very accomplished collection.”
