Bottega Veneta

Autumn 10

The techy parkas, micro-gingham shirts, dark denims and peacoats made Tomas Maier’s autumn 10 look an accessible one. Ever so slightly more challenging were the long line Teddy boy jackets and one eye-popping red db, but on the whole this was a commercial collection in a palette of cool anthracite and indigo with black, purple and green. It was a sporty look underscored by the drawstring pants and graphic shirts but the key piece was the boxy re-working of the db – an unusually on-trend piece from a designer that often wilfully offbeat from the rest of menswear’s rhythm.
