Burberry Prorsum

Autumn 10

Christopher Bailey’s attack on autumn 10 comes via land sea and air, with heavy wool field coats, naval peacoats and leather flying jackets worn over funnel neck knits and denim shirts and teamed with slim black trousers. The key reference point looked like world war II but Bailey says it was just as much about between-the-war exploration, claiming a film about the first nonstop transatlantic flight (in 1919) inspired him. Details like buckled cuffs and collars, brass buttons and armoured cuffs underlined the military theme while a now-classic Bailey palette saw chartreuse and mustard interspersed with black, white, indigo and military green.
