Calvin Klein

Spring 11

The look Following the less-is-more trend at New York, Calvin Klein served up a minimalist range for spring 11 characterised by subtle details and well-cut garments with little fuss. The only fuss was in pleating, utility pocket details and layering.

Key pieces It was all about the dress here. Racer-back dresses with high necklines exposed the back and sensually skimmed the body, falling elegantly at the ankle. Others had plunging necklines and long sleeves, while boxy shapes were cut just above the knee to expose more leg.

Colours A stark palette of white, ivory and black matched the minimal approach. Coral was the only injection of colour.

Commercial appeal This signature collection was on trend for spring 11, with the emphasis on soft shapes and femininity. The silk tunics, cropped front-pleated trousers and racer-back dresses looked modern and classic.
