Carolina Herrera

The look Inspired by the Bauhaus movement, Caroline Herrera’s floor-skimming gowns had a 1970s retro appeal.

Key pieces The collection was awash with prints that ranged from birds to a modern take on art deco. It was a thoroughly feminine collection, with an abundance of silk chiffon. Skirts were either A-line or dramatic maxi length, while shirts were buttoned to the top and featured fabric appliqué.

Colours Red, green and yellow underpinned the palette and looked fresh on a crisp white base.

Commercial appeal This was an impressive collection that was cohesive with enough versatility to suit a wide demographic. The 1970s shift dresses and pussy-bow blouses looked chic for daywear and the geometric embroidery on evening gowns will no doubt filter down to the occasionwear market.
