Derek Lam

Autumn 12

Delicate floral prints were simplified with deconstructed shapes as minimal and clean silhouettes reigned supreme. There was a nod to the high-shine trend with leather and silk satin scattered throughout on leather skirts, sleeveless tops and satin shirts.

A white, black and grey colour palette was interrupted by paprika red, sunset yellow and teal green throughout the collection and was occasionally worked into print. Trousers and skirts were on equal footing, with trousers ranging from wide-leg to cigarette styles, while skirts skimmed the knee. Chunky 3D knits softened floor-sweeping skirts for a modern take on eveningwear. The collection’s highlights included a white floral-motif trench coat, a sophisticated printed bomber jacket with matching skirt and a studded black sleeveless dress.
