Dries Van Noten

Autumn 10

Colourful and commercial, Dries Van Noten’s show used contrast panels and sleeves to reinvent the traditional club and regatta stripes of English boating outfits. This made for a confidently colourful look on suiting and outerwear, which swept through key looks including the duffle coat - fastened asymmetrically - the utilitarian four-pocket military jacket and the padded coat. Taped seams looked cartoonish on trench coats but simpler mac styles came flat-fronted. While the line was slimmed by vertical stripes, the silhouettes discarded skinny styles.
