Dries Van Noten

Spring 12

The look A refined and modern simplicity filtered through couture shapes.

Key pieces Boxy cropped jackets and structured coats created a simple silhouette, teamed with straight-leg pants or skirts featuring side ruffles with a flamenco feel. Voluminous bell sleeves update a knee-length shift dress, while peplum-waist trousers, tailored shorts and lace-cut work skirts also caught the eye. Shifts, shirts and skirts were also covered in print collages and block patterning.

Colours Black, white and grey was the monochromatic base, with blocks of fuchsia, deep aquamarine and orange.

Commercial appeal Dries Van Noten showed how to use print and pattern in a modern way. The collage of seascapes, landscape and jungle foliage and night-time lightscapes was truly inspirational.
