GFW begins hunt for new venue

Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) organisers are understood to be eyeing up central London sites for future editions of the event as its current venue, London’s Earls Court, is set to be redeveloped.

A GFW spokeswoman said it was “at the early stages of looking at venues”. A source close to the situation said while GFW “couldn’t afford the likes of Somerset House”, a central location would be preferred.

Earls Court has been GFW’s location for the past five years. Before Earls Court, GFW took place at Battersea Park. It has also been hosted at Islington’s Business Design Centre in its 21-year history.

GFW, which is sponsored by George at Asda and takes place in June each year, showcases the work of graduates from 65 courses at 46 universities from the UK and overseas.

Former Debenhams chief executive Rob Templeman was appointed as chairman of the annual event last year.
