Spring 12

The look Smart and sexy scuba mermaids.

Key pieces Sleek tailored jackets, sometimes sleeveless, with sharp lapels, worn with smart shirts, skin-tight wetsuit-style leggings, athletic shorts and mini skirts with curved hems. Other jackets, dresses and tops featured undulating lapels and ruffles. Netting and sheer fabrics were layered for hi-lo wave-hemmed pieces, while sequins and shiny colour created glistening seaweed effects, alongside stingray and shark skins.

Colours Blush pink, foamy white, sleek black, pale shell, shimmering blue and soft khaki.

Commercial appeal A covetable collection in which Riccardo Tisci moved away from his trademark prints in a season when most other designer backed them. The mixing of scuba and sea creature influences covered two trends that will influence the high street.
