Autumn 10

With its 1970s flavour, Gucci’s closing parade of jewel-coloured velvet jackets looked oddly offbeat in Milan. But despite this, a roll-call of key seasonal items including the duffle coat, four-pocket jacket, shearling coat and chunky knit meant that Frida Giannini’s show ticked the trend boxes. Equestrian style padded jackets and layered-up melanged knits underlined Gucci’s relevance while tailoring favoured current UK styling in its slim Jarvis-Cocker like proportions.
