Gucci

Disgustingly fabulous and unbridled 1970s glamour in a jewel palette.

The look Disgustingly fabulous and unbridled 1970s glamour in a jewel palette, not dissimilar from Gucci’s spring 11 effort in terms of palette and historical references.

Key pieces Where to start? The collection was laden with super-wearable and exciting pieces including a split-to-the-thigh dress made from yards of silk or chiffon, dyed fur stoles, a red Studio 54-style jumpsuit, a high-shine python pencil skirt, a plunging claret dress with corsage details and oversized pussybow ties. A fuchsia overcoat was demure in cut yet powerful in colour.

Commercial appeal This was Gucci at its best - glamorous and wearable. Yes, it would have been great to see something that felt like a major move on from spring 11 but there is something assuring about a label that doesn’t lurch from one direction to the next each season.
