Jil Sander

Spring 11

The look Sharp tailoring in electric brights and exciting, voluminous trouser silhouettes featured as designer Raf Simons played with proportions.

Key pieces Huge, billowing harem trousers were pleasing in their extremity. It was hard to decipher if they were trousers or dresses as the seams were swallowed up by the ballooning silks. Shirting was stitched to the top of silk trousers to make a one-piece while oversized peplum waists stood out on maxi skirts.

Commercial appeal The extreme silhouettes are not for the unadventurous mainstream shopper, but the bright colour pop palette will certainly filter down.

Footwear and accessories Bright clutch bags featured but accessories were dominated by goggle-like glasses. Pointed court shoes balanced the swollen proportions of the clothing.
