John Galliano

Spring 11

The look The theatrical John Galliano didn’t disappoint with a collection based around Maria Lani, the con woman who persuaded French artists to paint her portrait before making off with the pictures. This translated into a chaotic display of belted jackets, cocktail dresses and chiffon gowns.

Key pieces There was a nod to the Orient with kimono-style tops and skirts, and transparent white chiffon gowns were made more beautiful with sliver embroidery.

Commercial appeal Underneath the showmanship there were commercial pieces - butterfly prints on chiffon tops, skirts and dresses were well executed, while leather jackets belted under the bust and teamed with wide-leg voluminous trousers were must-haves.

Footwear and accessories Belts wrapped the body twice and were worn high. A series of hats framed the face with wispy chiffon.
