Autumn 12

Autumn 12 is clearly the season of the suit but refreshingly it’s not all about sharp Italian dbs and Savile Row, as an array of fashion’s finest have reworked tailoring this season. It was no different at Lanvin, where Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver reimagined the suit, sometimes long line, sometimes fastened with a tab, other times in interesting new fabrics. Overall the shapes were nipped in at the waist with gently pumped up shoulders and colour was made punchier with the use of berry, orange, camel and teal. Fine rollneck knits emerged, this time from beneath other chunkier jumpers, while striking wool and down-filled coats were draped open over the top of neat and tidy shirting and wider-cut trousers. All of this could have come across as a little too grown-up were it not for a mildly sporty vibe that boxer boot hi-tops lent to the collection.
