Spring 11
The look Loewe’s spring 11 effort was young, bright and fresh. Candy bright leathers and printed silks were cut into ladylike silhouettes.
Key pieces A fuchsia mini skirt in ostrich leather and a clean red leather mini stood out. Designer Stuart Vevers reinterpreted the 1960s pea coat, giving it a curved collar, while retro suede running shorts had less of an impact.
Commercial appeal This collection was mixed. On the one hand it was refreshing to see a bright youthful palette and direction, but on the other it jarred with so many of the other collections and trends seen on the Paris catwalks.
Shoes and accessories Thin belts were strapped around the waist while kitten-heel courts with a pointed toe shape injected a ladylike spirit into the collection.
