IMAGE GALLRY: The latest Autumn 11 catwalk collections from Aquascutum at London Fashion Week.
The look British heritage was updated via a blue-grey, orange and khaki green palette. Outerwear and tweed anchored the show, design director Jo Sykes’ first catwalk collection for the label.
Key pieces Knee-length and floor-sweeping coats with exaggerated or oversized fur collars were refreshed with padded gilets slung over the top, while some sleeveless long-length versions were also shown. Trouser suits were sporty with subtle go-faster panels running to the ankle. Wraparound mini kilts and double culottes in neutrals looked fresh.
Commercial appeal This was one of the week’s standout collections, and it was great to see what will signal a real revival of Aquascutum. Sykes did just enough archive referencing to stay on brand, but there were enough new ideas to prick the interest of a younger, more desirable customer.
