James Long

Autumn 10

At James Long, commerciality was key as the designer combined heavyweight knits with leather for a silhouette that – like many others at London Fashion Week this season – offered a slim foundation with bulk added on top.

Key items included heavy tweedy knits with a slightly ragged texture, biker trousers in both leather and heavyweight cord, leather biker gilets and jackets given softness and a slight early 80 retro edge by the tie belt at the waist and the corduroy collars, tweedy belted coats with quilted ‘biker’ leather sleeves.
