Julien Macdonald

Spring 11

The look Romance with a capital ‘R’ and a vast improvement on last season. Macdonald made every effort to ensure a highly feminine message was conveyed with rose petal cocktails served to guests.

Key pieces Ethereal maxi dresses with ruffles were twinned with sporty quilted jackets. Hemlines were kept short at the front of some dresses while a long train fell behind. Knitwear came as sassy negligee-type slips while babydoll dresses hung from spaghetti straps. Pale pinks, indigo and orange made up the palette.

Commercial appeal The appeal was high with the short front hem- line combined with a train expected to be a high street hit next season. Cropped jackets were easily worn over maxi dresses.

Footwear and accessories There was no jewellery in sight and shoes were strappy platforms in black or power pink.
