London Fashion Week: JW Anderson

After creating probably the most Marmite show of London Collections: Men, JW Anderson’s autumn 13 womenswear was equally challenging.

But this time it came off less tricksy, and was all the better for it. With an almost obsessive-compulsive restraint, Anderson’s clinical tie-back, knee-length dresses, the arm-sling restricted rollneck knits and the orthopaedic-meets-back-of-a-Sunday-supplement shoes best represented the disturbed purity that ran throughout. Bar a comic strip print, colour was blocked in uncompromising precision as Anderson’s exploration of fabric technology and a new distorted silhouette took shape.

In short The clinical style will probably prove too severe to influence further.
