London Fashion Week - Menswear

Topman Design, JW Anderson and Aquascutum led the designers exhibiting at London Fashion Week’s dedicated menswear day yesterday.

‘Rebellious Decadence’ was the title of Topman design’s spring 12 collection. Tailoring opened and closed the show in blue-grey cotton linens and jacquards with peak lapels, on double breasted and single breasted options. Moroccan influences manifested in-between in a rich palette of burgundy and mauve on printed silk shorts, pyjama trousers and sporty bomber jackets.

All eyes were on JW Anderson as the designer is nominated for the Menswear Emerging Talent Award at the British Fashion Award’s later this year. The spring 12 collection was full of printed tops created through cutaway details, in a palette anchored by white, black and navy and highlighted with canary yellow, turquoise and tangerine.

Aquascutum’s presentations focused on lean tailoring in an icy palette of pale tonal blues and neutrals. Outerwear remained at the core of the collection with bonded cotton duffle coats, suede and leather trench coats and cotton parkas.
