London Fashion Week preview: Barbara Casasola

Brazilian-born Central Saint Martins’ graduate Barbara Casasola leaves the Paris schedule to make her London Fashion Week debut this season, revealing her fourth collection of modern and minimal occasionwear in the city where she originally studied fashion.

Expect a focus on simple yet stunning mid-length dresses and bursts of colour.

What were your key inspirations for spring 14?

Brazilian modernism is always in the background, but it feels like this season it’s becoming a lot more pronounced.

What are the key items?

Definitely the mid-length dress; it cuts such a confident and modern silhouette.

What are the key colours?

I focus a lot on colour that complements skin tones. It made for a strong starting point this season and helped to define a certain mood of intimacy.

How has it been creating this collection?

I presented my first three collections in Paris, so the best challenge for this collection was thinking in terms of a catwalk show. Working on the purpose-built environment of the show has also helped to inform the collection.
