London Fashion Week preview: Marques‘Almeida

Designers Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida have roughed up last season’s girly girl, according to Marques.

What are your inspirations for autumn 13?

Eveningwear, the grown-up sister, all-American blue, red and white. And [rock band] Skunk Anansie. The vibe has moved from the young girly girl to the darker grown-up sister and the range of fabrics and pieces has grown significantly.

What are the key items?

Biker jackets, bootcut jeans, suits and fake gowns.

And the key colours and fabrics?

Blue, red and white as we see it, Japanese denim, dupion silk, leather and fur.

What’s it been like creating this collection?

Insanely fun!
