This year sees Nicole Farhi celebrate its 30th anniversary and its well-coiffed and curled founder is bringing a bit of her Tuscan holidays back to London for spring 13.
“A trip to the beautiful marble quarries of Carrara in northern Italy was the source of my inspiration,” says Farhi. “The jagged quarry faces, asymmetric shapes and chiselled surfaces were the starting point,” which are manifested in colours, fabrics and finishes. “The palette is inspired by the subtle tones of the quarry stones and the ever-changing variations, depending on the light,” she explains, including chalk whites and platinum greys, a spectrum of blush to champagne and a beautiful dusty mauve-grey. Pleats dominate, while a voluminous silk seersucker dress is key.
