London Fashion Week preview: Pringle of Scotland

Knitwear specialist Pringle of Scotland is pushing the boundaries for spring 14, bringing together a mix of influences as disparate as couture and gym-ready sportswear, says head of design Massimo Nicosia.

What were your key inspirations for spring 14?

The exploration of opposites has been at the centre of the collection, with inspiration taken from areas as diverse as activewear and couture, and seeing how juxtaposing these different reference points creates something new.

What are the key items?

Dresses, T-shirts, cardigans and jackets are all created in knitwear to be layered together. Silk-cashmere intarsia pieces are extra lightweight for summer.

What are the key fabrics and colours?

The collection is highly textural, so knitwear and fabrics, including piques and jacquards, are utilised and beading appears significantly. Key colours include cobalt blue, porcelain and geranium.

  • Monday September 16, 4pm to 7pm, The Connaught hotel
