Top Hong Kong buyers turn out to meet LFW designers on Show Rooms scheme

Eighty of Hong Kong’s top buyers –  from department stores including Harvey Nichols, Lane Crawford and Joyce – as well as indies turned out to meet the eight London Fashion Week designers brought to the country this week under the British Fashion Council’s (BFC) Show Rooms initiative.

Designers E Tautz, Jonathan Saunders, Marios Schwab, Mary Katran- tzou, Nicholas Kirkwood, Todd Lynn, Peter Pilotto and Roksanda Ilincic attended events including an in-store lunch to mark the launch of Lane Crawford’s new accessories space.

The Hong Kong visit, supported by supplier Li & Fung, followed showcases in Los Angeles and Paris last month and will be followed by one in New York. More Chinese destinations, including Beijing and Shanghai, are mooted for 2012.

BFC chairman Harold Tillman said the venture, now in its third year, was a “great introduction” to potential franchise partners, licensees and buyers. “There’s definitely an upturn [in Hong Kong],” he added.
