Louis Vuitton

Spring 11

The look Louis Vuitton creative director Marc Jacobs looked to the Far East to create a beautiful and highly detailed collection inspired by kimono shapes and incorporating art deco and art nouveau-style prints.

Key pieces Structured jackets with mandarin collars and bracelet sleeves worked best in the form of a purple satin trouser suit. 1920s-style fringed flapper dresses had deep necklines, while transparent maxi skirts featured the house’s famous monochrome logo.

Commercial appeal This will be easy for others to interpret in a toned-down manner but the collection itself may be a bit costume-like.

Footwear and accessories Wide kimono belts gave shape and separated colour-blocked maxi skirts, while long black fringed earrings hung down past the shoulders.
