Marc Jacobs

Spring 11

The look Marc Jacobs brought back 1970s glamour for spring 11, showcasing thigh-skimming dresses teamed with wide-brim hats in a sunset palette of yellows and reds.

Key pieces Strapless and halterneck maxi dresses were cut to the hip with cummerbund-style waists while tailored silk suits and wide-legged all-in-ones played on the 1970s vibe. Felt wool A-line coats with bell sleeves were teamed with calf-length trousers and peasant tops, and gypsy skirts were adorned with oversize corsages fastened on the waist.

Colours Mediterranean warmth pervaded, as burnt orange, terracotta and aubergine were used alongside chocolate brown, mustard and splashes of gold.

Commercial appeal With such a wide range of silhouettes and textures, there were plenty of options, but take note of the 1970s-inspired palette and high-waisted trousers.
